Sting at the Atlas Arena in Łódź: Performance Excellence and the Essence of Rock...
Three musicians, three instruments, a voice, a lot of music, and rock in its fundamental form. And that's enough. Sting and his band, 3.0, played an excellent concert on Friday evening, June 7th, at the Atlas Arena in Łódź.
Sting came to Łódź (the day before, he played at Ergo Arena on the border of Gdańsk and Sopot) as part of his worldwide "My Songs" tour. The musician selected songs he loves, many of them hits that shaped the repertoire and career of his parent band, The Police, as well as his solo endeavors.
Vocals, bass, guitar, and drums – these are the essence of rock, its foundations and purest energy. And with just such a set, Sting – vocalist, bassist, and composer, accompanied by guitarist Dominic Miller (the star's collaborator for over 30 years) and drummer Chris Maas – performed on the Łódź stage. It's worth noting that it was brilliant, atmospheric, and a perfectly selected set of songs, which included a generous representation of The Police era, unusual offerings, and the giants of the musician's solo career.
The evening began with classics like "Message in a Bottle," and then hits interspersed with songs that were sometimes lesser-known, yet perfectly captured the richness of Sting's musical explorations and capabilities. From "Englishman in New York" and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic," through "Driven to Tears" and "Walking on the Moon," to "King of Pain" and the swaying "Every Breath You Take" at the end of the main set. The encore included the immortal "Roxanne," "Next to You"—another song from The Police's repertoire - and the captivatingly natural "Fragile."
Sting in Łódź received a wonderful reception from the audience, which filled the Atlas Arena almost to capacity. Importantly, the evening with Sting was one of those special moments, with the rapt audience listening intently to each song. Sting and his collaborators, with their musical and performing skills, created a fantastic atmosphere on stage, for which the fans rewarded them with boundless engagement and standing ovations. The concert provided great pleasure for the attendees.

Sting played a concert in Łódź! A nostalgic journey through his greatest hits...
On June 7th, Łódź resonated with Sting's music. The artist came to Poland for two concerts, during which the audience could hear the singer's greatest hits. What was the musical giant's performance like at the Atlas Arena?
Before the tour began, the organizers announced that Sting would play his greatest hits, both from The Police and his solo career. And so it turned out. The singer came to Poland as part of his "My Songs Tour," and the Polish audience welcomed him with great enthusiasm.
The artist included 22 songs in his repertoire, one fewer than at his concert in Gdańsk, which took place the day before. The songs were presented in completely new versions, and the whole thing was a nostalgic journey through all stages of the singer's career.
The event began with a support act from Giordana Angi, a French-Italian singer promoting her latest album, "Questa fragile bellezza." After warming up the audience with the first concert, it was time for the performance of the artist everyone had been waiting for.
Sting opened his show with three songs by The Police, including the hit "Message in a Bottle." The singer then moved on to songs such as "Englishman in New York" and "Fields of Gold."
One might have expected the artist to perform the same setlist as the day before at Ergo Arena. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Halfway through the concert, instead of "When We Dance" and "Fortress Around Your Heart" performed in Gdańsk, the audience heard "When the Angels Fall" and "Why Should I Cry for You?". Sting also decided not to play "Desert Rose" in Łódź.
Towards the end of the concert, "Every Breath You Take," "Roxanne," and "Fragile" resounded. The singer received the backing vocals at their best during the big hits, as the audience sang along with him.
It's undeniable that the 72-year-old Sting is in phenomenal form. He's been touring constantly for several decades and never disappoints. The audience was delighted, thanking the artist with a standing ovation. Fans appreciate the calmness the singer conveys through his energy. A Sting concert is definitely an event worth experiencing.
