Sting, the eternal youth of an Englishman in Beauregard...

Sting, his army of backing singers and musicians brilliantly orchestrated the final show of the Beauregard Festival in Hérouville-Saint-Clair (Calvados) on Sunday, July 9, 2023. What class!

Sting, the athletic figure of his T-shirt, is 71 years old. On Sunday evening, many, if not all, of the 30,000 Beauregard festival-goers in Hérouville-Saint-Clair (Calvados), pinched themselves to believe it. Age has no effect on the pop crooner, whose slightly nasal voice, rising in the high notes, is immediately identifiable. As much as his hits that he has been releasing since the end of the 1970s, solo or with Police, his group at the time: "Walking on the moon", "Englishman in New York", "Every breath you take", none of the classics are forgotten... Special mention to "So Lonely", "Message in a bottle" as an opener and "Roxanne" as an encore, three straight tracks, without frills that make the crowd swoon, improvising a giant clapping.

After Indochine on Wednesday and Louise Attaque on Friday, Sting masterfully held his place as headliner, at the end of a calibrated 1h30 show, without a false note, mixing pop with soul music, reggae with even a nod to Bob Marley. Sting, the septuagenarian with a feline look, bass slung over his shoulder, has a little word for each member of his team. A backing singer, the guitarist, the harmonica player are highlighted. The audience is in heaven. The first concert of the former Police leader at Beauregard, in 2015, had left its mark. The one in 2023 will be no less memorable.
