Sting captivates Cap Roig with his timeless anthems - Sting fills Cap Roig with Police hits that captivate all his followers...

Sting is a myth. Can we say that, right? The 70-year-old British musician performed this Monday night at the Cap Roig Festival, which had been selling out for weeks. And for good reason. It's not every day that you can see an ARTIST (yes, in capital letters) of his stature in a space like the Calella de Palafrugell festival.

It was my first time with the Brit. I had never had the opportunity to see the former leader of The Police. The guy capable of creating songs like 'Roxanne', 'Every breath you take' or 'Walking on the moon'. Well, I finally saw him. A Monday, a day that is usually very lazy, but that he has made it special, different, desired. I had been wanting it to be Monday for days.

The wait to see the Briton was worth it. He started off strong with ‘Message in a bottle’ by The Police. There was no time to rest when the first notes of ‘Englishman in New York’, an unmistakable melody, sounded. Some daredevils stood up and everything! But the vast majority remained in their seats and it would still take a long time before they decided to stand up and enjoy the concerts that make me shiver. Standing, dancing, following the rhythm of the music. But regulars at Cap Roig already know that if you’re not Mika, it’s a bit hard to get up from a good start.

Sting and his fabulous band (which we can’t overlook, what great musicians they have with him!) continued the evening with ‘Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic’, with greetings in Catalan and everything, which is always appreciated.

The Briton was mostly there for work and didn't spend much time talking to the audience, unlike Mika. But he did have a closer moment when he performed a version of the song 'For Her Love' in Spanish, calling it 'Por su amor'. Looking forward to the next visit, we're already waiting for the Catalan version!

This was a non-stop success and as someone who doesn't want it, 'Brand new day' arrived, where finally the entire audience (or almost the entire audience, as I saw some people who were too comfortable in their seats!) stood up and vibrated with the song. The joy didn't last long, as then it was time to get tender with the beautiful 'Shape of my heart', which so many artists have covered, but no one reaches the level of Sting. On this occasion, he was accompanied in this R&B version by one of his musicians, which caused enormous applause from the audience.

The final stretch of the concert was a real wonder with 'Walking on the moon', the contagious 'So lonely', 'Desert rose', 'King of Pain' and the beautiful 'Every breath you take', which was sung by everyone. With this song, the musician said goodbye and once again mentioned all the great musicians who accompanied him. But everyone knew he had to come back. A concert where 'Roxanne' wasn't played? Impossible.

And of course, it did. And how, friends. No one wanted it to end, we were all having a blast, transported to the great era of the Police, we wanted more songs, now we were all on our feet, but no. Sting had another plan in mind. He likes to end concerts very quietly. What are we going to do about it. But of course if ending quietly means listening to and enjoying the sensational 'Fragile' live, then we say yes without thinking for a moment.

There was no desire to leave, we had experienced a night that took us to the past, but in 2022 where the musician continues to be in top form, offering live shows to the whole world, and there are still many people left to lose their musical virginity at one of his concerts.
