Printemps de Pérouges :  Sting performed his hits in front of 15,000 spectators...

They'd been waiting for this moment for two years.

It was 9:25 pm Wednesday evening when the crowd packed into the Polo Club de la Plaine de l'Ain heard the first notes of Sting's concert, postponed twice due to Covid.

Wearing a yellow jacket over black pants, the British singer belted out his greatest hits on a bass guitar with almost no remaining varnish. The 15,000 spectators were able to enjoy an intimate atmosphere during Fields of Gold, grooving to So Lonely, and immersing themselves in the '80s with Every Breath You Take. All accompanied by a full band of musicians who truly showcased the smooth, raspy voice of the former member of The Police.

At 70, Sting, who addressed the audience in perfect French, lost none of his energy and quickly won the hearts of fans. The only thing they may have regretted is that the show didn't last more than an hour and a half.

This Thursday evening, the legendary band Kiss kicks off their farewell tour. The French scene will be in the spotlight on Friday evening, with a double bill featuring Grand Corps Malade and Vianney, and Saturday evening with the appearance of Francis Cabrel. The Printemps de Pérouges festival will conclude on Sunday evening. The final performances will be given by young artists Eva and Tayc.
