Every song a global hit: Superstar Sting thrills 8,000 spectators in Halle...
The concert at the OWL Arena in Halle had to be postponed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic. The wait was worth it: The master was in top form and the arena was sold out.
Halle. Fans had to wait a long time for this concert – a very long time, in fact. The original date was June 28, 2020. The next attempt was June 27, 2021. And now – on July 27, 2022 – the time has finally come. Sting, the global star, can perform in Halle. The former frontman of the band "The Police" came with his favourite songs.
"My Songs" (the name of the tour) is a journey through his musical oeuvre. The now 70-year-old legend thrilled the 8,000-strong OWL Arena (sold-out crowd) with his old Police hits like "Roxanne," "Every Breath You Take," and "Message in a Bottle," as well as his solo classics "Englishman in New York," "Fields of Gold," and "Shape of My Heart." Sting presents all of his hits in contemporary interpretations.
The Englishman, whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, kicked off his world tour on May 22, 2020, at "The Colosseum" at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. He has been touring Europe for a few weeks. Yesterday he played in Erfurt, and tomorrow Sting will be in Berlin. The 17-time Grammy winner's performance in Halle will be rounded out by his son. Joe Sumner (45), also a musician like his father, is supporting his famous father on his German tour.
